The Kenyan sand boa is the heart of Jason's Jungle. It's certainly not the big money-maker (the ball python morphs and rack systems wrap those up) but it's how we got started and still what we devote most of our time to. Kenyans are incredible animals. They stay small, their low maintenance, and (other than males during breeding season) they have great temperaments.

This is our infamous Big Momma,
or ID N-F-1. She was my first sand boa that I got back in 1995 (definitely
showing my age now). She produce 6 consecutive litters of babies and '03 was
the first year she took off, and has produced since. In '06 she had a litter
of 26 babies! That's close to a record. She's an enormous Kenyan, weighing
in over 1000g+!!!! Big Momma is a staple at presentations and hands-on events.

This is the last girl we got in from the 2.3 group. Fortunately, she doesn't
have a sad story :) She came in, ate like a champ, and produced 10 healthy
babies/0 slugs for us this year. She had a slight battle with RI shortly after
the babies were born but is back on track and is gravid again this year. She
should drop sometime late July/early August.

This is just a one-off purchase
we made in late '03. Saw her for sale at a decent price and couldn't resist.
We knew that with 3 snakes down for surgery that our females would be hurting
so we knew we needed some more. So far, so great. She's eating like a champ
and there's no reason she shouldn't bred for us this year. I currently have
her slated to go with the albino male to produce some het albinos.

A neighbor of my parents in Lafayette
had two snakes for sale so I called him. What are the odds? A female ball
python and a female sand boa!!! He wanted top dollar for both although both
were way underfed but we negotiated on a price that was fair for both of us...well,
the female ball python turned out to be a male (gave it away) so this is our
$160 underfed sand boa :) Fortunately she's eating really well for us and
we'll hopefully breed her in '06.
