The pastel
morph is a co-dominant gene. The visible changes vary from snake-to-snake,
but generally the pastel gene brightens the yellow, fades the black, produces
a white belly, and yellows the eyes. A good pastel specimen is beautiful.
When bred with another pastel, a pastel will produce (25% odds) a super
pastel which is an even more exaggerated version of this beautiful trait.
There are several lines of pastels (Graziani, Bell, and NERD being the most
popular). They each have some fantastic specimens but we feel that the general
looks of a Graziani line pastel can't be beat.

This is our younger breeder pastel. He's just an '04 and didn't do squat in '05-06. This year we couldn't stop him! He bred like crazy. Should have him around a long time.

Did I mention how bad I wanted to produce a ton of pastels in 05??? We were looking
for more of a 'sure thing' to go with our big females and all of our males were young so Anthony McCain
hooked us up with his original pastel male. This pastel (along with some other
incredible investments) have really put Anthony on the map and we're happy
to add this guy to our collection.

This is our lone pastel female,
an asset we can't wait to use. She was bred by Jason at Circle
City Serpents from a project we jointly own. He did an amazing job with
her, she a gorgious Graziani line with tons of blushing. She went from 80g
to 950g in about 9 months then chose to go off feed for almost 4 months. She
is back on feed, was up to 1800g in '06 so we bred her. She bred the pastel about 15 times...nothing. Grrrr, we'll try again in '07-08.

When we had some clutches in the
incubator this year, I decided to go ahead and re-invest in another female
pastel. I ideally want another for next year but we'll have to see how things
go. This girl will be my bumblebee maker. She's a slow eater but she should
be good to go by the time next season rolls around. She came from Paul Edwards,
a girl he bred and raised up himself.

We traded in our incompatible ghost male to Aaron Burkett for this girl. He had a ghost female that had the same story as our ghost male and we needed another female pastel. I'd still like to have about another 3-4 of them honestly. This girl took off like a weed and bred the spider for 2 months straight, I'd be surprised if we don't see some bumblees by July.
To see the girls that will be going with the pastel above, please check out the Normal Females section of our projects.
